It is indeed a great success of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in holding a grand public meeting on Sunday at Minto Park after its chairman Imran Khan's 15-year-long political struggle. However, none of the speakers at the meeting, not even Imran Khan himself, said a word about his party's economic policy for Pakistan.
Pakistan's problems are illiteracy, load shedding, unemployment, rising inflation, rampant poverty and corruption. There is no such powerful party in this world that can solve these chronic, deep-seated issues of Pakistan instantly. We have seen the poor performance of both the PPP and the PML-N. They have only added to these issues further during their governments. Now as Mr Khan has emerged as the third powerful political personality in the country, his chances of becoming the country's next prime minister cannot totally be dismissed.
Thus he should inform the nation about his plans for the revival of our country's economy. He obviously does not have a magic wand to correct the system so he must let the public know about his economic strategy. It gave me a shock when I came to know that the PTI has not updated its manifesto since 2002. Is this not an anomaly, Mr Khan?

A big change has come to Pakistan: Imran Khan
LAHORE: After rocking Lahore with a mammoth throng of cohorts at Minar-e-Pakistan, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) protagonist Imran Khan has said that the country has undergone a big shift of opinion, Geo News reported.
Talking to newsmen at the airport before flying off to China, he said that he had dealt a blow to the status quo slapped on the country for ages, evident from the phalanxes of change-seekers he drew to the Minto Park.
To a question, he tied his considering an alliance with PML-N to Mian Nawaz Sharif’s making his assets public.
Pakistani politics up-and-coming ‘drawing card’ said that the vicious cycle of taking turns to come into power by select political parties had been broken for good.
"PTI has torpedoed their tacit partner-ship, now they will not be able to keep the power between themselves", he added.
“Their time is up, our time is now, said Khan, adding a sweeping revolution is in the making, which will dwarf the one people saw in 1970.”
Khan who was quite confident after flexing his political muscles in Lahore, told newsmen that his party had set up a cell to collect the details of politicians’ assets and as soon as they would have enough material the doors of Supreme Court of Pakistan and Election Commission of Pakistan will be knocked.
Following this, he added, we would launch an ultimatum for them and then jam all the cities of Pakistan.
He, also, invited all those politicians who want to save Pakistan to break the shackles of fear and stand by him for the same cause.
The erstwhile fast bowler also forecast elections after March 2012.
‘Prove your identity’: Voter verification campaign extended: Express Tribune
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to continue the ongoing countrywide campaign for verification of electoral rolls till October 31, a day before the deadline was due to expire, ‘to ensure accuracy and credibility,’ according to an official statement issued by their media office on Thursday.
The ECP has undertaken a door-to-door campaign to verify eligible voters based on data provided by the National Database and Registration Authority, which was due to be completed by September 30. The verification process was launched to eliminate bogus voters of which there are some 37 million on the basis of computerised national identity cards. The commission met under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Hamid Ali Mirza and decided to extend the deadline in view of the floods in Sindh and the law and order situation in parts of Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P). The requests for extension were made by Sindh and K-P legislatures. All four provincial election commissioners informed the ECP that nearly 70 per cent of the verification process has been completed across the country. It is in the disaster-struck and violence-prone areas that verification of voters is being carried out.
Secretary ECP Ishtiak Ahmed Khan stated 200,000 officials are going door-to-door to ensure voters are registered for the next election. He has asked political parties and voters to cooperate with the teams to ensure accuracy in electoral rolls for free, fair and credible elections in Pakistan.
